Long-Term Volunteers Needed for Missouri City Forestry Programs
Tree Farm Volunteers
Volunteers are needed immediately to help restore and maintain the Missouri City Tree Farm. The tree farm consists of approximately 150 potted trees and 400 in-ground seedlings. Volunteers will work under the direction of the City Forester, and will be provided with all the necessary tools & safety equipment for the job. Tasks include: re-potting, root pruning, and transplanting seedlings, weed control, monitoring & repairing irrigation lines, and tree pruning. Volunteers should be willing to able to work in the direct sun, handle sharp garden tools, and do frequent bending & lifting. Hours are flexible within: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-3:00 PM. Hurricane Ike Tree Restoration Program
Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help develop a tree restoration program, solicit donations, and organize tree planting events to reforest Missouri City parks damaged by Hurricane Ike.Volunteers will work under the direction of the City Forester, should be able to work well independently, and have computer & internet access from their home. Hours are flexible and some night meetings & weekend dates may be required. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Publisher a plus.
