Many thanks to the Quail Valley Garden Club volunteers who made this float possible. The committee was Judy Belt, Gretchen Cockerill, Lynn Ellis, Janice Scanlan, Sandy Smith, Marsha Strain, Sydrah Williams and Sharon Wright. Nancy Lindsay, Marilyn Ellis and Joyce Smith contributed materials . . . Curtis Belt, with his navigators Skip Belt and Ethan and Ian Williams, furnished the SUV and trailer and brought our mascot Lizzy. We also appreciated Sandy Smith's sister Lucy for her help in building the float . . .
One of the most gratifying moments of the parade (and not any person on the float had a thing to do with it) is when a woman from the audience yelled, "Thank you Garden Club, for helping make our Cartwright entrances nice." In 2009, a committee from the QVGC worked with the Quail Valley Fund to re-design the entrances. The QVFund paid for and implemented the changes. Nancy Lindsay, Barbara Thompson and Mary Chan were key members of that committee, with help from Joyce Smith as well as drawing help from Larry Chan. It's gratifying that a neighbor remembers and still appreciates.
On the photo, check out the gold garden gnomes on the trellis . . . thanks to Marsha Strain's creativity . . . and really just a wonderful group that got with it . . . and got this baby done in 2 hours. And did we have fun!
