Our April 14 meeting was on flower arranging . . .and we did ourselves proud bringing buds, greenery and interesting containers that ranged from baskets, wine bottles, copper pots, sconces to bedpans.
President Janice Scanlan called the meeting to order and Mary Ashmore led us in inspiration . . .
Upcoming President and Program Chair Penny Johnson introduced Shari Koch Grahmann, Horticulturist with the Fort Bend Agri Extension. A Ph.D. in Horticulture, one of Shari's most interesting stories was about teaching Texas A&M Aggie football players flower arranging. That would be a YouTube video.
And she kept it fun, while giving us good design and tips to inspire our creativity. Shari is a ball of fire and was hard to photograph she moves so fast, but I had my choice of seeing her face and an arragement . . . with a little blur . . . or not being able to see her face at all.
JoAnn Mayhall is shown wearing our new identity apron that we developed for the upcoming Backyard Tour while she and Barbara Thompson enjoy the delectible goodies prepared by our hostesses coordinated by Jerre Anne Wagner who were Ernestine Barr, Patty McKeever, Karen Meier, and Jo Altenbern.
Anytime Ernestine Barr bakes, there's a treat and it takes another good cook to appreciate the new delight Ernestine prepared. Jackie Walker left with Ernestine on the right share a hug.
The hostesses set a festive table as Janice Scanlan, Mary Chan and Joyce Smith delight in the great food and conversation. We spent a good bit of time enjoying all the goodies and then had a great session led by Joyce on horticulture.
