This was a special holiday party . . . and I've heard everything from "most fun to smashing."
Besides all the wonderful QVGC members in attendance, the credit for the success goes to Social and Program Chairs respectively Jerre Anne Wagner and Penny Johnson . . . to Judy Belt for her warm hospitality and sharing her beautiful home, to Gretchen Cockerill for a superb program as well as hostesses Arvada Simcoe, Joan Fox, and all the ladies in the first half of the alphabet who furnished the delectible meal. A photo album link will follow, but here's some of the high lights . . .
Mary Ashmore lead the pledge and provided an inspirational poem, Recipe for Christmas All Year Long by Joanna Fuchs.
Janice turned the program over to Penny Johnson who (to quote Barbara Thompson's meeting minutes) "led us in an ornament exchange that was fun and confusing. Her poem about right and left made for much mayhem and laughter. Members received an ornament at the end of this game." Quail Valley Garden Club . . . Show Us Your Ornaments!

Again, quoting Barbara's minutes, "Penny Johnson, 1st Vice Pres., introduced Gretchen Cockerill who gave a great program on how to use garden materials to make cards and other gifts from nature. Gretchen is very talented and had us totally immersed in her art projects made from simple garden flowers and leaves."
Gretchen's program would make a fun workshop where we first dried our materials and six-weeks later met for Gretchen's assistance in using them. We'll never look at parts of flowers or nature quite the same again . . . even weeds from my garden. Who would have thought dried Columbine would make such wonderful elf shoes?
The meal was absolutely delicious . . . ladies you outdid yourselves . . . and contributed to me hitting the trails to get in more walking miles per week! Before and now as President, I have always been gratified to see how this group comes together to get things done.
We also owe much gratitude to the Snowfest Parade Committee led by Sharon Wright and Holiday Lighting Awards led by Jackie Walker. Thanks to everyone who stretched an already busy holiday schedule with one more activity. It promotes our community.
And in the Spirit of the Season, I was the lucky one to deliver toys to the Missouri City Police Department and Officer Flagg and the linens to the Fort Bend Women's Shelter and hear the thanks from each organization. Your generiousity indeed grows a better community.
Joyce Smith's selection of a Rosemary Tree as a hostess gift for this party was apropos . . .Rosemary symbolizes and is supposed to help us remember. This is a party we all will remember for some time.
I finally gave up trying to pick the "best pictures--there are too many good ones, please press here for the entire photo album.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
