"Seeds for Life" is a Houston Federation of Garden Clubs and Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. World Gardening project. Commercially packaged flower and vegetable seeds are sent to Central America and Mexico - a project to bring the hope of harvest and the joy of gardening to the needy. Local institutions share their knowledge and help guide the poor in how to plant, cultivate and harvest the seed for personal use and commercial enterprise.
Walgreen's often has a discount coupon in their Sunday Ads for flower and vegetable seed packets (10 for $1.00). The flyer is available in the store this week (Jan. 20-26). Various Dollar Stores also have discounted seed packets.
You can make a difference! If everyone in Quail Valley Garden Club brought 10 seed packets to the February meeting, we could make a difference in many people's lives by distributing seeds through this program!
Great article Joyce, I hope this gets us all up and ready to buy seeds to make a difference.
